Matthew Sanchez has spent his career immersed in every facet of the filmmaking process, from cinematography to post-production. With a strong technical eye and a storyteller’s instinct, Matthew has built a body of work that spans documentary, narrative, commercial, and digital media.

For six years, Matthew served as both editor and cinematographer for a leading environmental awareness nonprofit, where he helped shape the visual language of more than 25 short films. His work often required shooting in challenging conditions, translating complex environmental issues into compelling, accessible stories that motivated public engagement.

Matthew’s commercial and editorial projects reflect his versatility. He has shot and edited content for VH1, documented the New York City underground music scene, produced digital features for Wired Magazine, and crafted comedic shorts for College Humor. His narrative film “Happy Birthday Harris Malden” premiered at the highly regarded CINEVEGAS Film Festival, earning praise for its originality and production value.

A recognized talent in the industry, Matthew has earned four Telly Awards, including honors for excellence in both cinematography and editing. His editorial work on a PBS program contributed to two regional Emmy nominations, further demonstrating his ability to deliver polished, broadcast-quality storytelling.

Matthew played a pivotal creative role in the acclaimed documentaries GASLAND and GASLAND Part II, serving as editor, cinematographer, and co-creator. These groundbreaking films helped ignite national debate on hydraulic fracturing and environmental policy, cementing Matthew’s reputation as a filmmaker who blends artistry, advocacy, and technical mastery.
